In the novel Charisma Sarah Lange’s story is supported and moved forward by a cast of well-developed supporting characters.  In order to make sense of the voices and to prevent herself from potentially doing something drastic Sarah Lange checks herself into the hospital.  From her therapist to his girlfriend, to the patients and the other staff the characters in this novel are expertly woven into the story and do just enough to push or pull Sarah along. Melting spirituality, introspection, and self-doubt expertly into one character searching for an answer to why she thinks and feels the way she does, and how to live with it.  Only one day, Sarah realizes the guides have gone.  Reading Charisma you feel as lonely or lost as Sarah and find yourself rapidly turning page after page to find out how the story of Sarah Lange resolves itself.

Barbara Hall has proven her talent yet again.  Achieving success as a novelist, screenwriter and television producer it is no wonder why this book so successfully transports you into the life of Sarah Lange.  Normally when you review a book, you are talking about a story that is pretty good that has a surprising ending.  In Charisma the beginning, the middle and the end are revealing and pleasantly surprising.  If you are looking for a good book to pull you away from your every day and take your mind for a ride, then Charisma is it.  This book will make a great present for yourself or anyone on your list who is creative, introspective, or spiritual.  So pick up the book and see for yourself what I am talking about.
