Blood Red

Blood Red

By: Wendy Corsi Staub

We love to sink our teeth into a book that expertly builds up the rising action and then sends you plummeting after the crescendo and all of the pieces expertly fall into place like dominos.  Set in a small and quiet town known as Mundy’s Landing, Blood Red will take a town know for unsolved and unsettling murders, and turn it on its head.  Wendy Corsi Staub has created a murder masterpiece in this, her latest work.  Its not hard to see why its already receiving rave reviews.  Two families, a history of murders that remain unsolved, and one act of betrayal, sets in motion a series of events no one saw coming, let alone can figure out.  Fourteen years ago two families, each with one working parent, become drawn together.  Friendships build until one fateful snow day, they are sent hurtling apart.  Rick Walker and Rowan Mundy share an elicit kiss which they believe they have kept secret.  Fourteen years later, Rowan finds out that Rick might have told a soul or two after mysterious reminders of that singular act of betrayal start showing up in the mail.  At the same time, a string of murders has started, the perp’s type, slender redheads…just like Rowan.

Blood Red was one wild ride.  Wendy Corsi Staub expertly sets the stage, and builds up to one hell of a crescendo.  Rowan Walker’s family is at the center of the novel, surrounded by others who are all fatefully and unknowingly tied to that one fateful day 14 years ago.   The book was a fast read – easily digestible if you can stomach the gruesome murders and the unsettling feeling that wells up whenever a murderous stalker is involved.  I very much enjoyed reading Wendy’s latest work and suggest that you pick up a copy of this novel when it hits shelves next month!  If you like murder mysteries, crime dramas, psychological thrillers or just plain good books, Blood Red is a great addition to your TBR list!
