Don't you cry - BlackDogSpeaks review of Mary Kubica's novel

Don’t You Cry

Don’t You Cry

By: Mary Kubica

Mary Kubica skillfully ensnares readers attention in her latest book, Don’t You Cry.  The story centers around two roommates who have become fast friends.  When one roommate mysteriously vanishes without a trace, the story kicks into high gear, and as the reader, you find yourself devouring page after page.  Slowly details are revealed but it still doesn’t feel like you’re any closer to finding the missing girl.  You’re hooked and you can’t stop reading at this point, so Kubica rewards you with a few developments that you never saw coming.  I’m not going to talk about them here and risk spoiling the book and the experience for you.  You need to go out and get this one for yourself.

Mary Kubica has garnered attention from readers and reviewers alike with the success of her last two novels.  They say it takes three to make a pattern, so Don’t You Cry is definitive proof that Kubica has what it takes to stick around.  In this “split story” Kubica gives readers glimpses into the lives of some very different people: the roommate, a boy in another town, and a mysterious newcomer that no one can quite figure out.
