Eyes on Target
By: Scott McEwen and Richard Miniter
Every so often you come across a book that is so good that you want to tell everyone you know about it. This book is even better because the subject matter is extremely important. Yes, the book is well written, but that is just the icing on the cake Eyes on Target: Inside Stories From the Brotherhood of the U.S. Navy SEALs by Scott McEwin and Richard Miniter is a book that every American should read – regardless of political affiliation or views on foreign policy. Beginning with the history and development of the U.S. Navy SEALs into the elite fighting force that it is today, the book progresses to provide the God’s honest truth about what happened in places like Asababad and Benghazi. It culminates with a unique and scrutinizing look at what could have and should have been done to prevent the devastating losses.
Finally there is someone able to tell the American people what was known, and when. Normally here is where I would give a synopsis or break down of what happened in the book. Bu this is one that you really need to read for yourself. Before reading this book I am sure you have respect for this dedicated group of men. After reading this book, words cannot begin to describe the respect that I have for this group of awesome men, what they do and what they sacrifice so that you and I do not have to live in fear – so that you and I can enjoy rights like freedom of speech, to worship whichever God we feel called to. I am honored to have had the opportunity to read this great new book let alone offer my thoughts on the work. I will offer a warning though – do not read this book before you go to sleep. This is for two different reasons. 1. You will not want to stop reading and before you know it, it will be 3:30AM. 2. SOme of what you read in this book will leave you seething and unable to relax and fall asleep. Scott McEwin and Richard Miniter have given us something to think about, something to possibly challenge previously held beliefs, and truth to sink our teeth into.
