The Immortal Crown
By: Richelle Mead
Just for one day I’d like to know what it is like to be Richelle Mead, to experience what goes through her head. Book after book and series after series, Mead creates for us amazing new worlds and exciting plot lines filled with rich and interesting characters. Her latest work The Immortal Crown, the next in the Age of X series is amazing and after all of her previous works and series it might just be safe to crown her the queen of SciFi and Fantasy. It’s no wonder why readers and critics alike are singing Mead’s praises. Her mind, is like the font of imagination and pours out books that grab our hearts and minds and transport us to another time and place. All of her novels, including The Immortal Crown take us on a journey far from our everyday lives. They excite us, frustrate us, and elicit a whole array of emotions as we work through her books. It is safe to say that I am hooked and have quite a bit of reading to do as I work my way through this new series as well as her acclaimed novels in the Vampire Academy series.
In Richelle Mead’s latest series, The Age of X anything is possible. In a post apocalyptic world where a deadly virus forced people to band together to survive the lines on the map have been redrawn, cultures have shifted and life is much different from what we know today. Justin March, as a member of a religious investigation office and his partner Mae Koskinen, a beautiful yet fierce super soldier are tasked with a new mission that no one saw coming. A rising political star has his sights set on the highest office of the Republic of United North America (RUNA) and plans to venture into the neighboring lands on a mission of peace and solidarity. Danger abounds in this unstable theocracy and temptations for Justin and Mae seem to be everywhere. In this new era the gods and goddesses of old covertly try to gain a footing in the mortal realm using people like Mae and Justin as pawns on a gameboard. If you are a fan of fantasy and SciFi books this new series is a must read.
