No Way Out

No Way Out

By: Alan Jacobson

No Way OutEvery so often I come across a book that while I am reading it, it actually feels like I am watching a movie.  No Way Out by Alan Jacobson is a fast paced, action packed drama with a sarcastic and impatient heroine at it’s center.  What could be better than that?  A former chiropractic turned novelist Alan Jackson has a wonderfully creative mind, that is able to draw up deliciously complex story lines.  No Way Out is not Jacobson’s first rodeo.  His previous titles include Hard Target7th Victim, and Crush.  After reading this thrilling novel I cannot wait to work my way through his other books.

No Way Out twists and turns, runs and jumps throughout the city of London and the rest of the picturesque country of England; from historic land marks like the Globe Theater and Curiosity Shope, to modern day law enforcement offices, complexes and of course, coffee shops.  Opening with a bang, or more accurately a firebomb, Agent Karen Vail of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis unit hits the ground running and never slows back down.  In fact, the novel only picks up speed as it progresses – from trains and cabs to boats and planes!  I was amazed at how Alan Jackson was able to maintain this pace so artfully and skillfully through out the novel’s entirety. He really keeps you guessing.   The number of times the story twists or turns and catches the reader unawares is incredible.  What might be even more incredible is that he is able to bring it all full circle.

This book is one that I would highly recommend.  The level of writing is high calibre – no pun intended.  The story line is ever evolving – this was a hard review to write because I want to describe the look but do not want to spoil any of Jackson’s beautifully crafted surprises.  What I can tell you is that it starts with a bomb in a famous art gallery of a renowned arts and antiquities dealer.  Soon after arriving on the scene Agent Karen Vail begins to realize that there is more than she is being told.  From there she, like a pitbull locking its jaws after latching onto something, becomes set on getting to the bottom of it all – even if it means putting her life in danger and narrowly escaping harry situations.  If you enjoy kicking back and relaxing with a book that will transport you to a foreign country and wrap you up in action, intrigue suspense, risk and surprise.  No Way Out is well with your time and pounds…I mean dollars.
